Cariad is a puppeteer and theatre academic.

Cariad is currently working on a project that seeks to explore the relationship between poetry and puppetry (in both symbolic and stylised forms). She is interested in how these forms can work together towards a performance piece.

She told us, β€œIt can be said that poetry is to literature what puppetry is to theatre. Puppets were used in some ancient civilisations to accompany the dead on their journey to the other world; poems are often used as a means to try and comprehend the meaning of death and loss, and to celebrate those who are lost.”

Cariad is working towards a performance which uses both forms to open up spaces about loss.
