“This residency came at the perfect time for me and provided the peace and quiet I needed to experiment with some new writing. With access to the garden, moorland and sea not too far away, I was never short of inspiration.

I won’t forget reading and writing by the fire as storms raged outside and owls hooted from the trees.”

Jack is a writer who was brought up on a farm in Herefordshire and currently lives in Bristol. His debut pamphlet-length collection is Handling (Two Rivers Press, 2018).

His poetry has appeared in numerous print and online magazines, including PN Review, Stand, The Clearing and The Compass, as well as on BBC Radio 4. In 2016, he won the Charles Causley International Poetry Competition.

He was the poet in residence at the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading from October 2017 to March 2018 and is currently the ArtfulScribe writer in residence at Lighthouse, Poole.
